Frequently Asked Questions
-
If you’ve tried books, podcasts, self-discipline, or even other therapists and still feel stuck, individual therapy may be a good fit. It’s especially helpful if you’re navigating shame, trauma, compulsive behaviors, or a complicated relationship with alcohol, sex, food, or faith.

The first session is a full 50-55 minutes. You’ll be invited to share what’s bringing you in and begin making connections between past experiences, current struggles, and future goals.
-
Therapy is tailored to your needs and pace. Some clients come in for focused work over a few months, while others engage in long-term, in-depth therapy that unfolds over years. There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline here.
-
Yes, if that’s meaningful to you. We work with many clients who bring Christian faith, spiritual questions, or religious trauma into the therapy room. Your beliefs are honored, and we explore them in a non-dogmatic, reflective way.
-
We work to address addiction through two channels. Fresh behavioral change options help you to begin to practice sobriety. We also investigate more deeply to address underlying emotional concerns that give the addiction its fuel. Both compassion and challenge are essential for the work to be effective. Viewing your addiction through this harm-reduction and attachment-informed lens helps us learn what the behavior is doing for you emotionally and how to build healthier ways of coping and relating.

Some clients begin with individual therapy and later join a therapy group. Changing to couples therapy requires a very early transition to ensure that partners have equal trust with their therapist. We’ll discuss the best path based on your goals and circumstances.
