Healing Happens in Community
You're not the only one and you don’t have to carry it alone
Group therapy at Blue Harbor Counseling is designed for individuals struggling with problematic sexual behavior. This isn’t a drop-in support group. It’s a professionally led, intentional space where you’ll receive structured guidance, psychoeducation, and meaningful connection with others on similar journeys.

How To Get Started
Step 1
Complete a Group Intake Session
Before joining a group, you'll meet individually with the therapist to discuss your goals, history, and readiness for this format. This ensures the group is a good fit for you and your needs.
Step 2
Join a Weekly Group
Groups meet for 90 minutes weekly and typically consist of 6-8 members. Some run for 12 weeks; others may continue indefinitely. You'll also have the option of monthly one-on-one sessions for additional support.
Step 3
Build Consistency and Connection
Through regular participation, clients often experience a reduction in shame, deeper insight into their behavior, and genuine growth through shared stories and structured feedback.
Frequently Asked Questions

Our groups are professionally facilitated with a clinical structure, psychoeducation, and a clear therapeutic framework, not just open discussion. The goal is long-term change, not just emotional venting.

In many cases, it’s more effective—especially for sex addiction and shame-based struggles. Hearing others’ stories often accelerates healing and normalizes your own process.

-
That’s okay. You’re welcome to begin with individual sessions and discuss group readiness over time. The intake process helps clarify what’s best for you.
-
No. While we welcome people with spiritual backgrounds, the group is not religious in nature. If faith is important to your healing, it can be respectfully integrated.
